Wanda Maximoff, the Scarlet Witch, is a Romani sorceress and twin sister of the speedster Quicksilver.
Born as the daughter of Erik Lensherr, after he left to fulfill his "destiny" as fortold, the twins' mother would pass only a couple years after the birth of Lorna Dayne.
The twins were seperated from their sister in the foster system, would be bounced around foster homes until their teens. Never having a real home of their own, and with their own burgeoning mutant powers, the pair were largely vagabonds. That is, until a cult of Apocalypse kidnapped Wanda. It took years for Pietro to even find her. With the help of Team Metal, the two were capable of being reunited.
Both her and her brother would join the Avengers for some time.
At some point, she began to fall under the influence of Magneto, making her believe he was her real father.
After the death of Quicksilver, she was inconsolable. Further corruption would lead her breakdown causing the M-Day event.
